My Priorities and Solutions
Priority #3
WELLNESS
REVITALIZE
DOWNTOWN
YELLOWKNIFE
Yellowknife is a beautiful place to live, work and enjoy some of its surrounding scenery. We've got beautiful trails, parks and shops adding to the elegance of our city
Ongoing work is needed to continue to make sure our downtown is safe and enjoyable while carrying out business and going about our daily routines
Many Yellowknife Centre residents have approached me about not feeling safe downtown and there is a growing concern that it will only get worse. I am running to represent you and want you to know that your concerns are my priority
As a community, we have to work together to find real solutions that can make a difference for everyone
Expanding the capacity of the Yellowknife Women’s Society Street Outreach Program can help extend hours of operation, add to staffing needs and support more homeless people on the street
There is also an opportunity to advocate for a dedicated call line and unit within the RCMP that is available to the outreach program when doing rounds or in situations where they do not feel safe.
Working with NWT Arts and the NWT Arts Council to recruit local artists to create murals and beautification pieces for our downtown can be an ongoing seasonal project to change the feel and look of Yellowknife. This, I will strongly advocate for
